Liverpool have the hottest threesome in football – and nobody’s getting left out!
Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino all scored against West Ham – the sixth game all three have scored in the same game – to push the Reds into second place in the Premier League.
The trio have scored 66 of the club’s 103 goals this season.
“They are a team that are intense, they keep going forward and have quality up front,” said Pablo Zabaleta, the Hammers former Manchester City defender. “They are so direct and they make the runs in behind. They create chances playing that way and they can score goals.”
Asked to compare the current team with the Luis Suarez version that was pipped for the league title, Steven Gerrard said: “What I would say about the comparisons between Suarez and this current team is that there is a better blend here.
“With Mane you have the pace and directness, with Firmino you have the touch and hold-up play and securing the ball, and then you have Salah that gives you a bit of both and delivers goals.
“The blend is superb. There’s no greed in the team, there’s nobody who is selfish. They all pass the ball to each other.
“If someone is in a better area, they look for each other. And they are all getting in on the act because they know they are going to score heavily.”
Philippe Coutinho who?
