The Nigerian Army has denied reports that civilians were killed in an
attack coordinated by Boko Haram insurgents against the United Nations’
World Food Programme convoy.
The Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Major General Rogers
Nicholas, clear the air in Maiduguri. He said contrary to WFP’s report,
the troops escorting the trucks killed six insurgents.
The Major General insisted there were no civilian casualties, adding he was at Dikwa when the incident happened on Saturday.
The WFP said yesterday that a truck driver and three other people were killed in the attack at Ngala.
